Apple has announced Alex Gorsky, the CEO of Johnson & Johnson, will be joining its board of directors. Alex was most recently elected to J&J's Board in January 2017 and is also on the boards for Exxon Mobil Corporation and Chevron Corporation. Alex joins Apple at a time when they are looking to grow their global footprint with increased investment in foreign markets like China.
Johnson & Johnson's CEO Alex Gorsky has been appointed to Apple's board of directors, effective immediately. According to a statement from the company, he will be responsible for overseeing the iPhone maker’s global operations and report directly to Apple chief executive Tim Cook. This is not his first time on a corporate board: he also serves as chairman of US biopharmaceutical giant Merck and president of the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation. He will join fellow new members Susan Wagner and James Bell who were both named in May this year.
The move comes after a string of high-profile departures from the company's board in recent months, including former Vice President Al Gore and Goldman Sachs Group Inc.'s director James Bell Jr., according to Reuters. "Alex has extensive experience in both the health care industry and with large public companies," said Tim Cook, adding "We are fortunate that he has agreed to join our Board." "Alex brings us wisdom beyond his years," said Cook in a statement posted on Apple's website today (15/07). "We are fortunate to benefit from Alex’s experience and insights." Gorsky joined Johnson & Johnson in 1988 and has since worked as a sales, management, marketing executive. In 2012 he was named CEO at the company's global headquarters located outside Boston MA where he continues to oversee about 130 thousand employees worldwide who are guided by innovation across their many sectors including pharmaceuticals medical devices consumer health care services . He'll hand over leadership of J&J on January 1 2022 upon finishing his term as interim leader but until then continues making investments into new technologies which will allow them stay competitive against other major corporations.
In addition to being a member of the Business Roundtable's board and its Corporate Governance committee, Gorsky also sits on various other corporate boards. He is currently serving as an advisor for Apple Inc., IBM Corporation (IBM), Travis Manion Foundation with responsibilities beyond advising including chairing their audit committees; he served in this capacity at Aon Hewitt LLP from January 2007 until November 2013 when it was acquired by Deloitte - both before that time period are spent working or consulting roles with companies like Goldman Sachs & Co LLC(Goldman Sacks); KPMG where he worked between October 2000 until December 2003.

Gorsky is a "trailblazer" for diversity and inclusion. The new board member is a veritable expert on all things military, having earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees from West Point. They hold extensive business management experience as well - proving that they know how to run an organization efficiently!
Gorsky is a Russian-born American businessman who has been named to Apple's board of directors. In addition to these appointments he also takes up membership on boards such as Burberry Ltd UK Board where his tasks involve overseeing all Group operational issues while ensuring alignment across business units including retailing/footwear manufacturing; luxury licensed brands.
Apple's board was most recently expanded this year when Lozano, current president and CEO of College Futures Foundation slid into seat at the table in January.
