Apple today launched the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, the next generation of the world's best smartphone with a stunning design with sleek flat edges in five gorgeous new colors. Both versions include several significant improvements, including a new Wide camera with bigger pixels and sensor-shift optical image stabilization (OIS) for improved low-light photos and videos, a new way to personalize the camera with Photographic Styles, and Cinematic mode, which adds a new dimension to video storytelling. The new iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini have all the features you'd expect, including water resistance, an improved display with better color accuracy, enhanced durability thanks to a stronger body and more durable front cover, double entry-level storage at 128GB, an industry-leading IP68 waterproofing rating, and 5G connectivity.
“iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini are more powerful, more capable, and more enjoyable to use than ever before because our clients rely on it every day,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing. “Both phones have beautiful designs, industry-leading performance, and cutting-edge camera systems with amazing computational photography capabilities that are all backed by incredible durability, waterproofing, and battery life to ensure that clients can depend on their iPhone when they need it.
The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini have been completely redesigned on the inside and outside, and come in five gorgeous hues with a strong flat-edge design and an exquisite aluminum frame. Both the 6.1-inch and 5.4-inch displays have Ceramic Shield on the front, which is only available on iPhone and is more durable than any other smartphone glass. Both models are IP68 certified for water resistance, and are intended to keep common liquids from harming them. The upgraded dual-camera system, which features a relocated rear camera layout with diagonally positioned lenses, is possible because to the new True Depth camera system, which is smaller while still incorporating breakthrough technologies like Face ID, the most secure facial authentication in a smartphone and more display area. The Super Retina XDR OLED displays feature an incredible contrast ratio for true blacks, as well as a 28 percent boost in maximum outdoor brightness at 800 nits and greater peak brightness for HDR content like photos and videos at 1200 nits, all while being more power efficient.
Both iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini feature improved battery life as a result of Apple's A15 Bionic processor, more efficient components, a larger battery, and power optimization from a comprehensive integration of hardware and software. Apple's iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini have an all-day battery life that will astonish you. The new models offer up to two and a half extra hours of usage on a single charge, compared with the previous versions, according to Apple. Major battery life improvements come to both iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, made possible by A15 Bionic, more efficient components, a larger battery, and power optimizations from a deep integration of hardware and software. iPhone 13 delivers incredible all-day battery life,4 offering up to two and a half more hours in a day than iPhone 12, and iPhone 13 mini provides up to an hour and a half more in a day than iPhone 12 mini.
iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini are the most significant advancements in camera design since the original iPhone. Improved hardware and computational photography enable stunning photographs and videos. The iPhone X's second camera, the wider Wide sensor with 1.7 µm pixels, has the biggest sensor ever in an iPhone dual-camera system and is capable of collecting 47 percent more light for less noise and brighter photos. Sensor-shift OIS — a technology introduced in iPhone 12 Pro Max and not found in any other smartphone — also comes to the Wide camera, even in the more compact iPhone 13 mini. It stabilizes the sensor instead of the lens so shots are more steady, while the custom-designed Ultra Wide camera with a new sensor captures images with more detail in the dark areas of photos and videos with less noise. Cinematic mode on iPhone records movies of people, pets, and things with a distinctive depth effect that adjusts focus automatically when triggered, allowing anyone to capture cinema-style moments even if they aren't a professional filmmaker. For creative control, the focus can be changed during and after capture, and users can also adjust the level of bokeh in the Photos app and iMovie for iOS, and coming soon to iMovie for macOS and Final Cut Pro, making the iPhone 13 lineup the only devices able to edit the depth-of-field effect in video even after recording. Cinematic mode on the A15 Bionic records in Dolby Vision HDR, thanks to A15 Bionic and sophisticated machine learning algorithms. All cameras now support 4K up to 60 fps with HDR video recording with Dol by Vision — from capture to editing and sharing — for both models.
A faster Neural Engine in A15 Bionic, new image signal processor (ISP), and advancements in computational photography power all-new features on iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini. Photographic Styles allows users to bring their personal photo preferences to every image while still benefitting from Apple’s multiframe image processing. Preset and customized preferences work across scenes and subjects, and unlike a simple filter, intelligently apply the right adjustments to different parts of the photo to ensure the important elements, like skin tones, are preserved. The dual-camera system and power of computational photography support Smart HDR 4, now with improved color, contrast, and lighting for each subject in a group photo, including in challenging conditions, making images more true to life, as well as improved Night mode. And the TrueDepth camera supports all the amazing new camera features, including Cinematic mode, Photographic Styles, Smart HDR 4, and more. The A15 Bionic is quicker than other smartphones on the market, delivering more performance and greater power efficiency, creating everything even more fluid in the iPhone 13 series. It has nearly 15 billion transistors and is powered by 5-nanometer technology to tackle the most complex tasks, such as computational photography functions. A new 6-core CPU with two high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores is up to 50 percent faster than the competition, the fastest in any smartphone, and handles demanding tasks smoothly and efficiently, while the new 4-core GPU is up to 30 percent faster than the competition and enables more lifelike visuals and lighting effects in graphics-intensive games. The new 16-core Neural Engine is capable of 15.8 trillion operations per second, allowing third-party app experiences and features like Live Text in Camera with iOS 15 to run more quickly. The new dual-camera system is built on the foundation of major improvements to the next-generation ISP, which combines computational photography and powerful camera hardware.
The iPhone has always been a leader in delivering cutting-edge technology to consumers. The world is quickly shifting to 5G, and iPhones provide an advanced 5G experience, allowing users to connect, share, and enjoy content in new ways. The iPhone 13 family's more complex hardware architecture enables it to operate on more 5G bands for greater coverage and performance. By the end of 2021, support for 5G on iPhone will double across the world, with over 200 carriers in 60 countries and regions. Users may enjoy higher-quality video streaming on their favorite platforms, more competitive gameplay in multiplayer games, faster download and upload speeds, and so much more. SharePlay7 will be able to provide powerful shared experiences like as watching HDR movies or TV shows in sync with pals over a FaceTime call when iOS 15 is released. Smart Data mode will intelligently save battery life by automatically moving the iPhone to LTE when 5G speeds aren't required.
The new iOS 15 software for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch provides new methods to stay connected, as well as advanced capabilities that assist customers focus, explore, and accomplish more with on-device intelligences The new Portrait mode and spatial audio improvements make FaceTime calls more natural, while a new Focus mode aids in reducing distraction, notifications have been redesigned, and Live Text uses on-device intelligence to identify text in a photo and allows users to take action. With Apple Maps, you get a new three-dimensional city-driving experience and walking directions in augmented reality to help you better navigate the world. Siri, Mail, and more apps now have new privacy controls in addition to improved security features that guard user data. Home keys are supported by Wallet, and the interface has been updated with full-screen maps and more graphical displays of data.
